Relevant is a content curation and discussion app that functions similarly to a forum, with the addition of a reputation system and an integrated currency.
Users of Relevant can establish and oversee distinct communities (similar to subreddits). Instead of content being ranked by clicks, trusted community members determine the value of posts.
- Relevant Communities: Each community on Relevant functions akin to a subreddit, allowing users to initiate discussions by sharing links or text. Content is rated using upvotes and downvotes.
- Reputation: Every user possesses a Reputation score. Reputation is accumulated through upvotes from reputable users on comments. Content ranking is influenced by user Reputation; a higher Reputation score grants greater influence over the community feed contents. The intention behind this system is to delegate curation authority to a select group of experts rather than a large number of passive consumers. Reputation scores are community-specific and non-transferable.
- Coins: Coins can be earned by upvoting posts. Users are given a 3-day window after a post goes live to upvote it. If the post receives upvotes from high-Reputation users, coins are earned. Coin accrual does not occur through posting content but solely from upvoting. Upvoting is similar to making a prediction about which posts will be deemed valuable by reputable community members. Coins symbolize ownership in Relevant, reminiscent of early Facebook users receiving Facebook shares. Users can also collect coins by inviting friends to join a Relevant Community.
